L-Menthol CAS 2216-51-5 Used in Peppermint Oil

    Menthol is manufactured in peppermint leaves, which is the main component of peppermint oil and is a kind of cyclic monoterpenes. It is a highly volatile essential oil produced by plants, and its components are mostly semiterpenes, monoterpenes and sesquiterpenes, especially when the climate is warm, the yield is higher. Some important plant pigments are terpenoids or compounds containing terpenoid groups.
  (-)-Menthol is a key component of peppermint oil. (-)-Menthol binds to and activates the transient receptor potential M8 (TRPM8). TRPM8 is a non-selective cation channel permeable to Ca2+- and eventually increases [Ca2+]i[ 1]. Has anti-tumor activity [1].
